The Hookah Lampbase

Sale price$4,250.00

Orders will begin shipping after March 1st, 2026.

The Hookah Lamp Base draws its silhouette from the ceremonial hookahs once found in royal courts of the Deccan. Reimagined as a sculptural object of light, its form echoes centuries of ritual, craftsmanship, and quiet opulence.

Crafted in Bidar, India—the birthplace of Bidriware—this lamp base is made using a centuries-old metal inlay technique unique to the region. Artisans begin with an alloy of copper and zinc, shaping it by hand before inlaying intricate patterns of 0.999 fine silver. The piece is then oxidized using a traditional soil native to Bidar, turning the metal a deep, velvety black and allowing the silver inlay to emerge with striking contrast.

Each base is entirely handcrafted, from casting to carving to inlay, resulting in subtle variations that make every piece one of a kind. No two patterns are ever exactly alike—an intentional mark of true artisanal work rather than machine perfection. Rooted in history yet designed for contemporary interiors, this lamp base stands as both a functional object and a collectible artifact.
