Crafted using 100% Kanjivaram silk, this lampshade brings one of India’s most revered textile traditions into a contemporary lighting form. Handwoven in Kanchipuram, India, the silk is produced using centuries-old techniques known for their density, depth of color, and enduring luster, qualities traditionally reserved for ceremonial heirlooms.
The shade’s deep hue is inspired by pomegranate, a fruit long associated with abundance, vitality, and ritual across cultures. Neither overtly bright nor opaque, the color reveals layers of richness and shadow when illuminated, evoking the depth of crushed seeds and natural dyes.
Constructed as a hardback shade with a gold foil interior, the piece is designed to enhance warmth and luminosity while honoring the silk’s natural character. Each lampshade is finished by hand in Los Angeles, preserving the integrity of the textile and ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike.

- Recommended for indoor use in dry, temperature-controlled environments
- When not in use, store in a breathable fabric cover and keep away from pressure or creasing
- If a diffuser is used, ensure proper airflow and avoid heat buildup within the shade
- Due to the handwoven nature of Kanjivaram silk, natural variations in weave, texture, and sheen may be present; these are inherent to the material and attest to its artisanal origin
